平时看到报纸的种族垃圾言论，
看到巫统大会的种族垃圾言论。
不论是首相，
还是国家领袖，
或是组织领导，
时常读说些种族垃圾言论。。。
真令人生气，
真令人愤怒。
有时以为生气是因为他所说的言论，
其实不是。
因为有人说过“莫气他人之过”，
所以不气。
可是还是要生气，
那气什么？
原来是气自己，
气自己就算生气也不能做什么。
平时只顾吃喝玩乐，
写写文告，
接受访问，
口才好
学问高
还可去给讲座，
就以为很厉害。
等到刀锋已对着额头，
才发觉身旁没有人。
无奈不能反抗，
最后还是选择：
写写文告，
接受访问。。。
Failure
of National Education
Looking
back the reformation of education, the government done a lot in the name of enhancing
the quality of education, however, in terms of building a Malaysian, it did
nothing.
Malaysia education system never promote political awareness among students, and this is
true from primary till higher education level, where the focus of the study is
to prepare the students for the capitalize business market. We were train as a
product and studies for market needs. The children and youth never been taught
about their national identity, meaning of democracy or even the concept of
human right and this is the result of alienation of education system from the
political reality!
During
the primary and secondary education level, we were inoculating with the concept
that politic it is sensitive and we are not mature enough to discuss about it.
However, when the luckier enter university, they were tight by University and
University Colleges Act 1971 where the intellectual were told to stay focus
only on studies but not questioning their rights or public issue.
Missing
Identity Generation
After
49 years of independence, we have failed to build a common identity for us as
Malaysian, racial suspicious, ethnocentrism is the never ending story among the
society. National interest issue had become racial base issue under the mouth
of country leaders. While ethnic dignity is still the main concern of Malaysia main
political party, it is impossible that national unity will exist. The
conservative political environments cause the confusion of identity among the
youth, as a Chinese, am I a Malaysian Chinese or Chinese Malaysian? We are the
generation without identity.
The
lack of interaction among different ethnic groups is not only caused by the
difference of cultural or language, but the most important is the lack of
common identity. Under the Ketuanan
Melayu concept of ruling party – UMNO, Malays and bumiputra are the land owners and others ethnics are only passenger
in the land, it prefer ethnic domination rather then share responsibility for
all. Therefore, the social class for the ethnic groups creates dissatisfaction
and suspicious among Malaysian. In case, the domination doesn’t limits to the
political status however it extends its effect to the social and even economic
sector. Malay cultural based National Cultural Policy and abnormal 20 years and
still ongoing affirmative policy – New Economic Policy, are the two typical
examples of the domination and exclusionist policy practice by the government.
Far
before Malaya gain independent from British
colonial, Dato’ Onn Jaafar, one of the
founder of United Malay National Organization (UMNO), already suggested to open up
the membership of UMNO to non-Malay ethnic, this is due to his believe that
“Malay” should means common nationality but not ethnic identity.
Political
Party is the Solution?
So,
what are we after almost a half century of independent? The failure of the
government to build a common national identity doesn’t stop here, but when it
swing in with the deformity of education system, it result in the youth will never
have a chance to thinks, to debates and say nothing of proposing constructive
solution. However, one would consider youth engaging in political party is the
solution.
But
looking at Malaysia political system, we can see another form of domination - elite domination. The
fact that only those who have a family or close relation, high education
qualification or rich person can their voices been heard in Malaysia political and public institution. In the other hand, normal civilian voices
will never get the equal chance as the elite does.
Solution
Live with the People
Meanwhile,
politic is not all about political party. The unique of politic is more to
peoples’ awareness, equal participatory chance and people empowerment. It is
not elitist style, and it is not participating without understanding. It means
opening up space to collect people comments without promoting the value of
human rights, democratic and others important universal concept among people is
just a politician game to fulfill their responsibility superficially. Therefore
the youth should be reeducate, not their career profession, but their
understanding of those important concept.
However,
that is only equipping them with a common understanding concept to combat with
the ethnic polarization and suspicious. A series of intellect debate should
launch with openness for drawing the picture of national identity among the
youth. It is important that the debate should including the whole civilian but
not rely on few political elite. This would give a chance of participating and
also stimuli idea from civil society and avoid the elite domination.
The
long-term oppression create strong dissatisfaction among the people, is not the
matter of unconcern, but the main problem is the free and safe channel to
express their opinion. The white terror created by draconian law such as
Internal Security Act (ISA), Official Security Act (OSA), UUCA and others is
psychologically preventing the youth to voice their critical opinion. Therefore,
there is no one single solution to solve the problem and it would be a long process
to go before we can found our identity and claim ourself as first class nation.
However, a mile distance begin with a small step, the youth shouldn’t repeat
the history failure, but start to create our story. Its time to restart our
activism – the youth activism.
对于这次马华公会脱售部分股权给星洲大股东张晓卿，华团领导似乎都视而不见听而不闻，甚至有些抱着以逸待劳的心态期待新闻自由从天而降。对于这次不大力参与反垄断捍卫新闻自由的人士，竟然自欺欺人地说改变不到结局。君不见马华正脱售南洋股权吗？君不见南洋读者因为撰稿人的罢写，嫌南洋没味道吗？君不见南洋的读者不断放弃马华掌控的南洋吗？只是今天马华脱售了南洋股权后，我们竟然自己放弃了，究竟是对自己的失败抬不起头，还是对垄断霸权屈服了？
反对依然继续
五年前的风波，早在今年528报变纪念日，还有一批坚守信念的人于5月26日继续为未完的抗争做纪念。这些只是站出来并且醒觉的人士，还有许多在份收购运动中被唤醒的人士在背后无声的抗议，罢看南洋就是他们的支持证明。此外，哗！FM事件、爱开麦无障碍事件、首要媒体垄断电视台等等事件都不断在提升公民对媒体自主，新闻独立的醒觉意识。
醒觉意识是塑造公民社会的消极条件，消极指的是它不是形式化的，不是具体化的，但他却是最难被摧毁的，能无意识的随时随地被展现出来，它也是公民社会的基础条件。然而，现阶段的努力是不够的，公民社会讲求的是全民的醒觉及参与，不是精英领导的“英明”或“果断”。因此，漫长的教育工作是需要持续下去，每一场运动只不过是在累积力量，任何的在反抗还没结束前就放弃，不但会毁了运动的进程，更是自掘坟墓。
错误的“垄断错误认识”
大马中文报章不是国内的小报，反而是族群的首要信息来源，它除了负起传播民族所关心的议题，扮演文化的传播人，更是扮演着传达国内外重大消息，提供社会对话平台，也负责监督政府，批判政策。因此它的社会责任确定了报章媒体的定位不只是商业产品，而是肩负着公共产品（public
goods）的特质。
公共产品对社会提供的正面利益是共享的，也是会导向集体利益的。若报章拥有尖锐的报道，有深度的批判及容纳辩论的空间，这将会激荡读者的脑袋，培育出有文化有醒觉的读者，最后获益的将会是整个社会。因为公共产品对社会的重要性是不容取代的，因此确保它能维持其本质是公众的共同责任。
不需要一统
媒体需要的不是什么一统中文报业，创造宏伟神话。始皇帝一统中国，为现在的中国画下了一个版图，然而张晓卿一统中文报业，究竟为公民社会创造了什么？张晓卿垄断的是中文报业，星洲日报垄断的是言论空间。四家报业一手掌控，再分排去各自的利基市场（niche
market），再不互相干涉对方市场的情况下，出现没有竞争的现象，各自捞取最高的盈利。
这种商业手段，并不是什么高明的市场策略，只不过是在媒体被垄断后，星洲日报不断在宣传错误的信息，隐瞒真相误导读者。在反对声浪还没真正出现时就已经感受到了垄断的后果。然而，星洲日报竟然还敢以“反垄断是我们的信念”为标题，误导读者！
不需要神话
二哥关羽已经不是骑着赤兔马，手提青龙堰月刀的三国猛将，如今是坐在神台被人们供奉的神话英雄。人们崇拜的是它的正义及英勇，但是他的成就并不使自己形成的。要不是遇见刘备，要不是曹操赏识，要不是诸葛孔明善用人才，那会有关羽点点滴滴的神话？人之所以活在社会，是因为不能一人改变世界，个人主观意识永远都是敌不过客观的压力。更何况神话是别人说的，一个人又何必自我创造神话？
人民已经尝过巫统一党独大的滋味，也反对中共的一党治国，更加反对布什的美国霸权，那么有什么理由要让人民相信张晓卿比马哈迪，毛泽东或是布什更不需要监督，更能信任？更何况张晓卿并没有得到万岁万万岁的祝贺，它的个人承诺又能确保下一代新霸主的“清高”吗？
不需要商业化
同样的，报业急需的也不是商业竞争，资本市场低下的报业不能不以盈利为考量，然而表面的竞争化并不能解决大马中文报业的困境。香港媒体的商业竞争是令人咋舌的，但是竞争最激烈的竟是娱乐八卦新闻。因此，社运人士在反对媒体垄断，提倡竞争的重要性时，更需要提倡媒体的角色及人民的醒觉。
媒体的竞争将会确保单一媒体集团不能随意的封杀任何人士、团体或新闻。读者的监督能确保有素质的报章。然而如果报业或读者对媒体角色的了解缺乏，那将会导致辛辛苦苦争取回来的媒体只专注报道民间的琐碎课题，缺乏对国家及国际宏观课题的报道；或媒体将趋向报道八卦化，如受害者内衣的颜色等。
制度的垄断- 出版及印刷法令
此外，在批判张晓卿垄断中文报业时，我们是不能忽略大马的政治环境。在封闭政权的领导下，出版及印刷法令是政府用来操纵媒体的报道尺度，以确保报章不会对政权造成任何动摇，并且被用以巩固人民对政府的迷思。出版及印刷法令甚至限制发出报章的执照，更要求报馆每年对政府更新执照。这些种种的法令限制几乎是否决了企业家办报的信心。
张晓卿雄厚的资本及星洲日报的庞大规模为本土中文主流报业设下高昂的门坎（entry
barrier），若没有一百几千万，如何能够开办足以和星洲竞争的报章？再加上出版及印刷法令，若投资者是没有一定的政治资本，试问要如何取得办报准证？
这是一场持久战，反对人士现阶段很明显是没有足够的运动资本让张晓卿脱售南洋。然而，脱售也不是关键目标，因为大马社运还是始于萌芽阶段，更多的醒觉工作有待社会领导去推动。垄断事件只不过是让人民上了一堂活生生的媒体垄断课，如果现在脚步停下来了，我们几时还要再继续？
